The Monument Explodes! Well- it looks like it anyway.

Policemen on horses are not uncommon here.
Inside the Capitol dome.
Jessica and me in front of the National Mall
A nerdy Michelle picture- the shadows of the trees outside my summer home casting onto my dresser. I loved the image of the glow-in-the-dark the Sun made on my wall.
The Hyattsville, Maryland metro station I took every morning to work during the summer- this is a sunRISE. I left at 6:15 every morning (approximately ;o)
Melissa, me, and Jessica inside the exhibition Ford's Theater.
The flag's in front of NASA headquarters in the evening.

Here I was walking toward the L'Enfant Metro Station, but I bypassed it because it was too beautiful outside. Instead I walked on...
... to take this picture!! Can you believe it?
Could life be more exciting? Here I'm flaunting my NASA Badge and Smithsonian badge- probably the only time in my life when I'll own both! This is my last week of work at NASA.
Okay, fast forward a couple of weeks. I'm now living at the UC Washington Center and fully embraced in my Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Internship. Here is a picture of Space Ship One, before the Museum was opened, on the very first day of it's public appearance at the Museum.
Rutan (SSOne designer) talks to the public at the official donation to the museum. Standing next to him is Paul Allen, SSOne's funder.
Rutan looks up to the spacecraft.
I spent one late night at the Smithsonian trying to finish up an edit to an oral history between my boss, David DeVorkin, the interviewer, and Steve Maran. David has a door to an outside balcony in his office, and you can imagine my suprise when I stole a look outside to catch the moon rising!
I took a weekend trip to Williamsburg, VA, prior capitol of the USA, and here was a reinacted drum march.
Williamsburg: Look up at the Governor's Palace.
Williamsburg: The leaves are just beginning to change color.
Williamsburg: It almost feels like New Zealand all over again.
Williamsburg: The gardens outside the Governor's Palace
Williamsburg: More gardens- I remember taking this same picture ten years ago when I visited the DC/Virginia area with family.
This tree weirded me out- look how stinking long that branch is, and it hasn't fallen off!
