My hip-hop/funk dance troupe for CLCA. This is after our big performance at the CLCA's Women's Conference: Sistas.
This one has me in it. (bottom) Don't you love our costumes??
Here's a picture to give you an idea of how many women were there.
Have you heard of Brooke Fraser (singer)? She's one of the foremost NZ artists and she goes to CLCA. However, she just moved to Aussie, but came back to sing at Sistas- here she is singing "Lifeline."
My last choir rehearsal. The girl with glasses in the middle is my friend Alison. We've made dinner together a few times and she and her husband and I venture to Greenlane Christian Centre on Sunday nights.
From left to right, Brendan, Bruce, and Ness in the music room (where I had Lifegroup meetings) at CLCA. They are in my Lifegroup and play large roles on staff at CLCA.
At CLCA, practicing before the Sunday night performance of my burnout (dancers are off at this moment). Ness usually heads worship- the choir is such a neat addition.
My trip to Northland after the big burnout. Here I am on my way to Dargaville on the west coast. Gnarly clouds, eh?
NORTHLAND: Walking through a kauri rainforest.
NORTHLAND: The Four Sisters.
NORTHLAND: This is the fattest kauri tree (5 m) in NZ. You don't really know what you are looking for until you turn a corner and see this. The name of this tree is "Te Matua Ngahere" (The Father of the Forest).
NORTHLAND: Looking up at Te Matua Ngahere.
NORTHLAND: A nice wet scenic shot.
NORTHLAND: At my bed and breakfast in Dargaville, McLean's B&B. I was the only one who stayed that night, and I was so joyed to have some quiet. In the morning I woke up to warm sunshine and a light breeze rustling through my curtains. The owner served me fresh honey (less than a week old) and organic freshly-squeezed orange juice, etc. We talked for over and hour!
NORTHLAND: On the way back to Auckland I took one of the many NZ bush walks- this one is in the Dome Forest and the peak of the trail had this outlook.
NORTHLAND: The steps I took to get to the peak
This is a shot of the Railway Campus, where I live, from the path I take to and from Uni.
This is on my roadtrip with Fiona. Her family lives on a farm in New Plymouth in the district of Taranaki, and our first night over, they took us out to dinner at a 'flash' restaurant. I had rabbit and fresh 'gnocchi.' I figured I'd never have anything like that again. From left to right, me, Fiona, her parents, her sister, and her grand parents.
ROADTRIP: In the morning in New Plymouth, Fiona did chores with her sister and parents and I explored town. This is the oldest (1859) stone church in NZ
ROADTRIP: This wall is the remains of the original.
ROADTRIP: A cool tree.
ROADTRIP: Here Fiona's mom treated us to coffee. Fiona and I had MANY coffee stops on our trip. She drinks coffee like I drink Pepsi Max.
ROADTRIP: From the coffeeshop, we took a great walk alongside the beach on this newly built walkway that stretches for miles. This is Mt. Taranaki from the walkway.
ROADTRIP: If you didn't see it in the last picture, here Fiona and I will help you out.
ROAdTRIP: Here's one of New Plymouth's boasts- a wind pointer-thingee.
ROADTRIP: On Fiona's parent's farm. I'm playing with the little lambs!!
ROADTRIP: They're goat- he was quite skittish so I couldn't get too near.
ROADTRIP: Hangin' with the calfs.
ROADTRIP: Fiona's parents own thirty acres of land for farming not far from town. They have a stream running through it, too. Here is a picture of a typical bit of their property. I was in la-la land walking around.
ROADTRIP: Fiona on her territory.
ROADTRIP: Fiona shows me the greenhouse.
ROADTRIP: Mt. Taranaki on the way out of Taranaki.
ROADTRIP: That afternoon we left for Palmerston North, stayed the night and left for Ruapehu in the middle of the North Island. Here is a shot of Mt. Ruapehu. Gorgeous, eh?
ROADTRIP: Here we are munching on carrots in Ohakune, the carrot capitol of NZ. Tasted great!
ROADTRIP: On the Taranaki Falls trail beside Mt. Ruapehu. Tell me this does not look like Lord of the Rings material!! Actual it is... many of the scenes of Mordor were filmed in this area.
ROADTRIP: The Taranaki Falls from above...
ROADTRIP: ...and below. That concludes the roadtrip pics- we went to bed early setting our alarms for 4 AM to get back to Auckland in time for our first classes on Monday, but neither of our alarm clocks went off. *L* Altogether, we had a fabulous time. It was neat to be able to look a little more into her fam and Kiwi lifestyle as well as enjoy the remainder of the North Island scenery.
Sometimes things get hard, and then you know that Somebody loves you... because He gave you that someone who can encourage you and love you the way He does. Thank God for my sister- look at what she sent me today- giving me more tears. hehe...
